AVA Cat Rescue is an organization in Southern Ontario dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats and kittens. Although the rescue charity has been active since the late 1970s, it was relatively unknown to potential adopters and area cat lovers.
As part of the social media and communications team, it was my goal to boost AVA's visibility and community engagement. Through 2018 and 2019, I created promotional graphics for adoptathon events. This effort contributed to a 38% increase in cat adoptions from the Metro Toronto adoption centre.
With an abundance of engaging cat content at our fingertips, AVA volunteers contributed photos and videos from their shifts of adoptable cats to the Instagram account of one of AVA's Metro Toronto adoption centres. In addition to cute cat pics, I also crafted Insta-friendly infographics to provide the community with helpful facts about cat care and adoption procedures. Over the course of two years, we grew the follower base by 460%, with many conversions to adopters, volunteers, and donors.
In 2019, I ran a weekend long fundraising campaign on AVA's Instagram leading up to Giving Tuesday, the global initiative that encourages charitable giving after the Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping binges. This effort contributed to the 106% increase in donations raised for AVA.
